The Pit has earned the reputation as being one of the tougher rivers in California to wade—a classic “risk vs reward” river. While the wading and access may be difficult, this powerhouse of a trout stream is jam packed with plump, wild rainbow trout. A favorite spot  for our Pit river fly fishing guides, there is an abundance of food throughout the year to keep these fish shaped like footballs.

From indicator fishing to high-stick/Czech style nymphing, this is a trout anglers dreamland. You can expect to do a little bush-whacking while navigating from spot to spot on this river, but when you do get to the right spots, it’s usually game on! The Pit typically runs a little off color, making it mostly a nymph game. For those who get excited about adventure angling, a trip with our Pit river fly fishing  guides is just for you.
