Lower Sac & Fall River
As we start to head towards the tail end of summer, we are happy to report that there are some great fly fishing options in the North State right now! The Lower Sacramento River and The Fall River are two of the premier wild trout fisheries in the country and both venues are fishing excellent right now. Despite the drought like conditions throughout most of the west, these two trout rivers remain cold and create a healthy and thriving habitat for these wild trout. Both rivers are delivering exceptional fishing for our guests right now.

// LOWER SACRAMENTO RIVER //
The powerhouse trout fishery that we call “The Lower Sac” has been an excellent option recently. Flows are up around 9k cfs, which is about average for the Summer and the water temps are 56-58. The trout have been very happy. We’ve been finding solid numbers of fish and solitude on the lower floats south of Redding. Up in Redding, the quality of the fish has been exceptional with some very large fish being caught by guests recently. Summer on the Lower Sacramento River is one of the most underrated seasons of the year. The table is set for another great few months on this big tailwater.

// FALL RIVER //
The big spring out in the Fall River Valley has become a big hit for our guests the past few years. Recent fishing has been good to great and we’ve had the opportunity to see a lot of quality fish and just as many big smiles. With constant, cold water flows, the Fall River is an outstanding summertime fishery. Gin clear water combined with an abundance of wild trout makes for a very unique trout fishing experience. We expect the Fall River to remain a very good option for the coming months. ![]() – Fall Fishing Reminder –
